Limitations of Kurt Lewin’s theory
The limitations of Lewin’s theory are simple stated, it only works backwards. It can explain behavior after the event, but neither the topographical analogy nor the mathematical formulation can predict anything. Field theory lacks predictive power because it provides no methods for measuring valences, vectors and barriers. Forces in the field can only be inferred when they cause an action, which renders the theory entirely circular.
